Outline
PROBLEMS
1.How many problems were discussed?
2
2
2.Who are they?
a). Damage the
environment and endanger the population at sea.
b). Damaging coral reefs
that are almost extinct.
3.What expression are used to introduce the
problem?
a). After China, Indonesia is currently the second largest plastic pollution country in the world.
b). Based on the results of the BPS
National Socio-Economic Survey, March 2017, households that never carried their
own shopping bags were 53.98 percent, and those who always carried their own shopping
bags were 9.29 percent.
4. how are the problems illustrated further ?
a). Marine
biota will accidentally eat plastic waste, because they think
that plastic is their food.
b). The
closure of the sea surface will cause damage to coral reefs because coral reefs
need sunlight to survive.
5.What results are discussed for each problem?
a). This problem is very serious and very detrimental to many parties
b). The situation will be increasingly if it continues to be left.

SOLUTIONS
1) How many solutions are given?
3
2) What are they?
a). Has conducted a trial to reduce plastic waste through the application of free disposable plastic shopping bags with the aim that people bring their own shopping bags while shopping.
b). Has warned all pond farmers and fishermen not to throw plastic waste into the sea.
c). Carrying beverage bottle from home, recycling used containers into useful items, and applying waste with the 3R concept (Reuse, Reduce, and Recycle).
3) What three different groups of people does the writer say are responsble for these solutions?
Governments
Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries
Society
4) How would the solutions be implemented?
a) Reaffirming government regulations
b). Hold more equitable socialization
c). Invite people to live clean and orderly
5) What three modal verb structures are used to make the suggestions?
Should, need to, must
Indonesia is the second country as the largest
contributor to plastic waste in the world after China. The plastic waste
produced by Indonesia is 187.2 million tons (Jambeck, 2015). In fact, plastic
waste is garbage that can pollute the environment because plastic is a material
that is difficult to degrade. New plastic waste can decompose tens to hundreds
of millions of years, there are even some plastics that will never break down. The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) records
Indonesia's population, which will increase to 271.07 million by 2020 from
238.52 million in 2010. The increase in population will affect the environment,
one of which is waste. The more residents, the more garbage is produced.
If plastic waste is not properly collected, it will be carried to the river and even to the sea and eventually accumulate. Because it is lightweight, plastic waste will be at sea level so that it can cover the sea surface. Waste that is wasted into the sea can cause environmental damage and endanger the population in the sea. In January 2018 it was reported that plastic waste in the sea was eaten by anchovy, and a survey conducted at the University of Hasanuddin Makassar also stated that 28 percent of the fish in the fish market consumed plastic. This does not rule out the possibility that other marine biota will accidentally eat plastic waste too, because they think that plastic is their food. Apart from having a bad impact on fish species, plastic waste can also damage coral reefs that are already endangered. The total area of coral reefs in 2016 was around 2.5 million hectares, with quite good conditions around 37 percent and less than about 30 percent (Kelautan dan Perikanan dalam Angka, Kementerian Kelautan dan Perikanan, 2016). The closure of the sea surface by plastic waste can endanger the marine biota which provides enormous benefits for millions of people living near this coast. In fact, coral reefs need sunlight to survive.
The government has conducted a trial to reduce plastic waste through the implementation of a free, non-disposable plastic shopping bag for two months, and this has been claimed successfully by the Minister of Environment and Forestry. People can reduce plastic waste by carrying their own shopping bags while shopping. Based on the results of the BPS National Socio-Economic Survey, March 2017, households that never carried their own shopping bags were 53.98 percent, and those who always carried their own shopping bags were 9.29 percent. And, the government also has an advanced program to realize Trash-Free Indonesia in 2020. Besides the Minister of Environment and Forestry, the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries has also warned all pond farmers and fishermen not to throw plastic waste into the sea. Other behaviors that can reduce plastic waste include carrying drinks bottles while traveling, recycling used containers into useful items, and applying waste with the 3R concept (Reuse, Reduce, and Recycle).
To cloncude, The old saying, "He who planted, he who will reap." Yes, I think this saying is perfect for describing the current state of the environment. So, let us protect the surrounding environment so that a healthy environment can also be felt by our children and grandchildren. Let us contribute by reducing the use of plastic in daily activities. Come on, love our sea
Don’t forget give me correction for the mistakes, give critic and advice in the comment column.
